Bergan Re-Election

(Dorchester, IA) – Today, Representative Michael Bergan (R – Dorchester) announces his re-election bid for Iowa House District 63. HD 63 includes Howard and Winneshiek counties as well as a northern portion of Fayette county. “Having been born and raised in Iowa, it's a great honor to serve in the Iowa House,” Bergan said, “I am proud of the work I have been a part of in the Statehouse. We've lowered the tax burden on Iowans while funding Iowans' priorities. We've shrunk the size of state government and increased efficiencies. I look forward to continuing to work and make a difference for House District 63.”Bergan is a lifelong resident of Winneshiek County, with roots deeply planted in the farming community. Aside from the Statehouse, he served eight years on the Winneshiek County Board of Supervisors. Bergan also serves on two state boards, Early Childhood Iowa and the Iowa Council for Early ACCESS. Bergan has 35 years of experience in his career as an income tax preparer. In 2005 he assumed duties as the Director of HAWC Partnerships for Children working to implement state funding in Howard, Allamakee, Winneshiek, and Clayton Counties prior to serving in the legislature. In the Iowa House, Bergan serves as chair of the Administration and Regulation budget subcommittee. He also serves on the Health and Human Services, State Government, Labor and Appropriations committees. Speaker of the Iowa House Pat Grassley (R – New Hartford) said he enjoys working with Representative Bergan in the Iowa House. “Representative Bergan is a great member to have in our caucus,” Grassley said. “He is a member who is willing to get into the weeds and really understand the complicated legislation we are tasked with in the Iowa House. He's always seeking feedback from his constituents to best serve their interests. We are proud to have him as a committed legislator.”Bergan is seeking his fifth term in the Iowa House. He currently resides in Winneshiek County with his wife, with whom he has two daughters.
