Clayton County Arrests

On May 12, 2024, at approximately 12:52am, a Clayton County Deputy attempted to stop a vehicle for excessive speed in rural Garnavillo. The vehicle failed to stop, and a vehicle pursuit ensued. The vehicle then pulled into a driveway in rural Elkader, where one subject fled on foot. Two subjects were immediately detained, and the third was located a short time later. All three subjects were found to be under the influence of alcohol. The adult driver of the vehicle was identified as Robert Hunter Sheber (20) of Elkader IA. Sheber consented to the standardized field sobriety tests which showed signs of impairment. Sheber was placed under arrest and transported to the Clayton County Jail where he was charged with OWI 1st offense, eluding, and no insurance. The two juveniles were charged with underage possession of alcohol. 

On the evening of May 18, 2024, Clayton County Deputies were dispatched to the Pikes Peak Campground near McGregor IA for a report of an assault. When officers arrived on scene it was discovered an adult female had assaulted a juvenile in the campground ground area. Nicole K. Nevarez (38) of Des Moines IA was issued a summons for simple assault (simple misdemeanor). The Clayton County Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by the MarMac Police Department and lowa DNR. 

On the evening of May 21, 2024, Clayton County Deputies were checking for a wanted subject, Jason J. Vigen (52), at a residence in the city of Farmersburg IA. Vigen was located inside the residence, along with a female. It was confirmed there was a criminal no contact order in effect between the two, listing Vigen as the defendant. Vigen was placed under arrest for the outstanding arrest warrants and was also charged with violation of a no contact order (simple misdemeanor).
