Clayton County Authorities release information on a number of incidents between May 9th and May 25th

On May 9, 2026, Clayton County deputies arrested Edward Meggers, 73, of McGregor, on an active arrest warrant for harassment in the third degree and harassment in the first degree. The arrest stemmed from numerous incidences of Meggers harassing/threating a neighbor.


On May 12, 2026, at approximately 2:00 p.m., Clayton County deputies were dispatched to 201 S. Front Street in Farmersburg for a report of trespassing. As a result of the investigation, Raymond Rose, 58, of Farmersburg, was arrested and charged with criminal trespass – first offense.


On May 14, 2026, at approximately 11:20 a.m., Clayton County deputies were dispatched to Highway 52 and Kale Avenue for a two-vehicle crash. Upon arrival, it was determined that a maroon 2012 Dodge Ram, operated by Jerry Schoenthal, 73, of Waukon, was traveling northbound on Highway 52 when a black 2015 Chevy Traverse, operated by Lynda Schaefers, 52, of Guttenberg, pulled in front of Schoenthal’s vehicle from the shoulder of the roadway while attempting to make a U-turn. The two vehicles collided, causing disabling damage to both. Schaefers was transported by Guttenberg Ambulance to Guttenberg Municipal Hospital and Clinics with suspected minor injuries. Schaefers was cited for an unsafe turn/failure to give a signal. Assisting the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office at the scene were Guttenberg Ambulance Service, Garnavillo First Responders, Garnavillo Fire Department, Hennessey’s Towing, and Autotek Towing.


On May 15, 2026, at approximately 6:35 p.m., Clayton County deputies were dispatched to Galaxy Road near Grain Road at the Motor Mill canoe access, for a report of a stolen vehicle. An investigation determined that the silver 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 had been taken from a parking area at approximately 4:10 p.m. An Elkader police officer located the vehicle a short time later, just south of Founders Park in the City of Elkader. As a result of the investigation, Preston Kulper, 18, of Elkader, was issued a summons for operating a vehicle without the owner’s consent.


On May 20, 2026, at approximately 3:30 p.m., Clayton County deputies arrested Bryan Boeckenstedt, 33, of Dubuque, Iowa, for driving while license suspended and failure to provide proof of financial liability. This arrest stemmed from a traffic stop after Boeckenstedt drove an individual to the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office.


On May 25, 2026, at approximately 5:46 p.m., Clayton County deputies arrested Howard Stenerson, 29, of Red Wing, Minnesota, for driving while license revoked, possession of marijuana—first offense, and excessive speed. The arrest stemmed from a traffic stop for a speeding violation. Assisting the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office was the Monona Police Department K-9 Unit.
