Clayton County Authorities Release Information on a Number of Incidents from July 7th to July 30th

On July 7, 2026, at approximately 3:08 p.m., Clayton County deputies arrested Jermicheal Well, 28, of Cedar Rapids, for Driving While License Suspended. The arrest stemmed from a traffic stop for a registration violation.

On July 15, 2026, at approximately 3:17 p.m., Clayton County deputies responded to the intersection of Great River Road and Clayton Road for a two-vehicle crash involving a semi and a passenger vehicle. An investigation determined that a black 2024 Nissan Altima, operated by Caitlin Rodenberg, 18, of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, was stopped at the intersection preparing to turn west onto Clayton Road. Rodenberg failed to yield after entering the highway, and the Altima was struck by a white 2015 Kenworth semi operated by Gary Dempster, 72, of Elkader, who was traveling westbound on Clayton Road. Rodenberg was transported to Guttenberg Municipal Hospital and Clinics with suspected minor injuries. Dempster was not injured. Rodenberg's vehicle sustained total damage, and Dempster's semi sustained disabling damage. Rodenberg was cited for failure to yield upon entering a through highway. Assisting the Clayton County Sheriff's Office at the scene were the Garnavillo Fire Department, Garnavillo First Responders, Guttenberg Ambulance, and the Iowa State Patrol.

On July 19, 2026, at approximately 2:45 a.m., Clayton County deputies arrested Collin Fischer, 27, of Strawberry Point following a traffic stop on Great River Road near McGregor. The arrest followed information from Wisconsin law enforcement regarding a vehicle that had been involved in a pursuit and had entered Iowa. Deputies located the vehicle in the McGregor area and conducted a traffic stop on Great River Road. During the investigation, deputies located multiple open containers of alcohol, a handgun within reach of the driver, and a rifle inside the vehicle. Fischer was charged with: Operating While Intoxicated, 1st Offense Possession or Carrying of a Dangerous Weapon While Intoxicated Open Container Operating a Non-Registered Vehicle Fraudulent Use of Registration. Fischer was transported to the Clayton County Jail without incident.

On July 19th, 2026 at approximately 10:32 p.m., Clayton County deputies issued a summons to Miranda Durnan, 32, of Elkader, for Driving While License Suspended. The summons stemmed from a traffic stop for a lane violation

.On July 19th, 2026 at approximately 10:39 p.m., Clayton County deputies arrested Zachary LeGrand, 33, of Colesburg, for Operating While Intoxicated, 1st Offense. The arrest stemmed from a motorist assist on Osterdock Road

.On July 24, 2026 at approximately 10:03 p.m., Clayton County deputies arrested Jamie Rodenberg, 54, of Elkader, for Operating While Intoxicated, 1st Offense; Open Container—Driver; and Failure to Obey a Stop Sign. The arrest stemmed from a traffic stop for a stop sign violation

.On July 30, 2026, at approximately 8:40 p.m., Clayton County deputies arrested Chris Johnson, 51, of Strawberry Point, on an active Clayton County arrest warrant for Driving While License Barred. The warrant stemmed from an incident on March 24, 2026, when Johnson was observed driving near the Clayton County Courthouse in Elkader.
