We have taken reports of a scam in which individuals will call local residents pretending to be deputies from this office. The reports we have taken indicate that the individuals identify themselves as deputies and say they are trying to reach you for “a legal matter.” In some cases, payment is requested. This is a scam. If you receive a similar call, please hang up and call the Sheriff’s Office. Contact can be made with our office at (563) 245-2422, extension 1 for dispatch. Please be careful as some scammers are known to use numbers associated with agencies to call. Don’t be afraid to hang up and call the Sheriff’s Office to confirm the validity of the call you are receiving, and please pass this information on to older family members who may not see this post to help them avoid falling victim to this scam.
