Clayton Ridge Board

The Clayton Ridge School Board approved the preschool program for next school year with 2-sections, 4-days a week.

The Board approved a number of capital projects. The district received a grant of 150-thousand dollars which will be used to purchase/install school safety surveillance and keyless entry at a total cost of 163-thousand. They approved replacing the Middle School Hallway Doors at a cost of nearly 23-thousand. They approved replacing the Guttenberg Gym sound system for 10-thousand. They approved seal coat work for the Garnavillo Parking Lot for six-thousand. They also approved the purchase of a storage shed at the Stephen D Shannon Athletic Complex for 65-hundred. They also approved replacing the Guttenberg entry door graphics for five-thousand.

They approved the hiring of Cindy Roberts at Special Ed Teacher, Chloe Freeman as Associate, and Ben Backes as Varsity Softball Coach.

2. Approved proposal from O'Connor, Brooks, & Co to complete the FY24 audit for $18,700

3. Approved preschool program for 2024-25 (2 sections, 4 days per week)

4. Denied 3 open enrollment applications to Iowa Virtual Academy

5. Held second reading and adopted 700 series board policies and Title I Family Engagement Policy

6. Approved capital projects:

    a. Replace middle school hallway doors - $22,764 by Meuser Lumber, Dave's Construction, Kuempel Masonry

    b. Seal Garnavillo parking lot - $5,989.20 by Kluesner Construction

    c. Replace Guttenberg gym sound system, estimate $10,000

    d. Add storage shed at Stephen D Shannon Athletic Complex, estimate $6,500

    e. Replace Guttenberg entry door graphics, estimate $5,000

    f.  Purchase/install school safety surveillance and keyless entries, $163,000 ($150,000 grant)

7. Approved facility use agreements with Garnavillo Boosters to use gym on July 4; and with River Rumble Paddlers to use showers on July 29.

8. Hired Kathy Connelly as summer technology assistant

9. Approved service agreements with Iowa Communications Network to provide internet

10. Approved overnight trips for FBLA and FCCLA national competitions

11. Amended 6-12 Handbook to align with Dept of Education extracurricular restrictions for students with a failing grade
