County Releases

On July 9th 2022 it approximately 5:20 PM the Clayton County Communication Center received a report of a motorcycle accident near the intersection of 375th Street and Colesburg Road. Upon arrival deputies determined Ronald Hingtgen (64) of Dubuque was traveling Northbound on Colesburg road when he failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway. Hingtgen lost control and entered the west ditch. Hingtgen was transported by Colesburg Ambulance to Guttenberg Municipal Hospital with nonlife threatening injuries. As a result of the investigation Hingtgen was charged with operating while intoxicated 1st offense and failed to maintain control. On July 18th, 2022 at approximately 4:04 PM the Clayton County Sheriff's Office received a report of a three vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 18 near the intersection of Dogwood Ave. Upon arrival it was determined Ronald Palmer (74) of Postville was traveling southbound on Dogwood Ave when he failed to yield right of way from the stop sign. Meranda Harnack (30) of Monona was traveling eastbound on U.S. Highway 18 and collided with Palmer's vehicle. A third vehicle operated by Gina Heins (43) of Postville was also struck as a result of the accident. A minor passenger in Harnack's vehicle received minor injuries and was transported by MFL Ambulance to Gundersen Palmer Hospital in West Union. Palmer was cited for failure to yield right of way from a stop sign. Assisting the Clayton County Sheriff's Office on scene was the Postville Police Department, Luana Fire Department, Postville Ambulance, MFL Ambulance, Monona Police Department, and Sautter's Auto


On July 22nd Clayton County Sheriff's Office conducted a traffic stop on a 2006 Blue Volkswagen Jetta for a traffic violation. Contact was made with the driver identified as Spencer Michael Kuempel. During the investigation it was determined Spencer Kuempel had a driving status of Revoked for an OWI test failure. Spencer Michael Kuempel was arrested and transported to the Clayton County Sheriff's office.

On July 24th, 2022 Clayton County deputies stopped a vehicle for a speeding violation on U.S. Highway 18 near Dogwood Avenue. During the traffic stop, deputies located Drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. Alexander Wallace (26) of Postville was charged with speeding, driving while license suspended, no insurance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

On July 25th, 2022 at approximately 4:30 PM Clayton County Deputies arrested Thomas Jones (51) of McGregor on an active arrest warrant for operating while intoxicated 2nd offense. Jones posted bond in the amount of $250 and was released on a promise to appear.
