Crawford County Two-Vehicle Accident

Town of Bridgeport, WIS. - On Thursday, October 23rd, 2025, Sheriff Dale McCullick reports that the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two-vehicle traffic crash on WI-STH 60 near Vet Lane. Christopher Gardner (47) of Merrill, Wisconsin, was operating a vehicle westbound on STH 60. Gardner attempted to pass highway department personnel mowing along the highway, and he collided head-on with an eastbound vehicle operated by Merlin Fritz (72) of Boscobel, Wisconsin. Fritz and a passenger from Gardner’s vehicle were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Gardner was cited for operating a motor vehicle left of center causing injury. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Crawford County Highway Department, Bridgeport Fire Department, Bridgeport First Responders, Gundersen Ambulance Service, and Milo’s Towing Service.
