Dairy Candidates

The annual Clayton County Dairy Banquet will be held Friday, June 4, 2021 at Johnson's Reception Hall in Elkader. The meal will begin at 7pm with the program scheduled to begin at 8:00pm.Music by Mark Zalaznik will begin following the awards banquet, stay and socialize!

The banquet program includes the presentation of various awards including the county’s Distinguished Dairy Producer, Outstanding Young Dairy Producer, and Senior Dairy Producer awards. Blue ribbon rosettes and plaques will be awarded to producers for a variety of herd and individual cow production levels. The Clayton County Little Miss Squirt and Dairy Princess will be crowned at the banquet. Scholarship recipients will also be recognized.

Princess Candidate

Rebecca Schumann is the 17 year old daughter of Bill and Sally Schumann of Garber. The Schumann’s have a 150 Holstein dairy farm. Rebecca is a Junior at Clayton Ridge High School where she is active in the FFA chapter and enjoys learning about animals and how to evaluate them. In school, Rebecca enjoys learning about animal anatomy and how their body systems work. Her future plans include becoming a vet tech and going to farrier school. Rebecca’s hobbies include working with and showing all animals, especially horses and dairy cows. Rebecca is being sponsored by Garnavillo Mill.

Little Miss Squirt Candidates

Briella is the 10 year old daughter of Lance and Jonna Schutte of Monona. The Schutte’s have a herd of 140 Holstein and Brown Swiss. Briella is a 4th grader at MFL Mar-Mac Elementary where she enjoys art, math, music and PE. Briella’s hobbies include being active with the Monona Junior Feeders 4-H club, attending Sunday School, playing sports, riding bikes, drawing, baking reading and helping her family on the farm. Briella is being sponsored by Precision Dairy Equipment of Elkader.

Brooklynn Martins is the 9 year old daughter of Adam and Brianna Martins and Katelyn and Mike Peterson. Brooklynn’s grandparents own Martins Family Farms, a 130 Holstein cow dairy and the farm is run by her father and uncle. She is a 4th grader at Postville Elementary where she enjoys art, PE, recess and the library. Brooklynn’s hobbies include playing basketball and softball, playing with her friends, swimming, going to the park, playing with her dogs and siblings, going to the fair and going down to the farm. She is being sponsored by Olson Hoof Trimming of Luana.
