The Village of Mount Hope is planning to hold the annual Mount Hope Dairy Day Parade on Friday night June 18, 2021. Due to COVID-19 guidelines and precautions, the Mount Hope Cardinal 4-H Club will offer a bag of 2 ham sandwiches, chips, and cheese with choice of milk or water starting at 4:00pm at a cost of $7.00. The 4-H Club will also offer choice of pie, with or without Ice Cream, as well as Root Beer floats in a separate line at a cost of $2.00 each. Club members are planning to set up tents outside to offer drive by service for those wishing to support the group to avoid interaction and offer a safer atmosphere. Limited seating will be available at the Firehouse and Village Park for those who wish to eat on site. The food will be served until the Parade at 8:00pm, which will be held Rain or Shine, and will reopen following the parade if supplies allow.
The parade line up will take place on the hill around 7:00pm, with judging to take place at 7:30pm.
Everyone is welcome to place entries in the parade with some of the judged categories being Marchers, Youth groups, Bands, Commercial, Organizational, Antique Cars, and Tractors. There will also be a place in the parade for Royalty and Politicians. Parade entries are encouraged to arrive prior to 7:00pm and asked to enter the village from the north off of Highway 18 past the water tower. We ask that participants stop at the intersection of Centre and Highway Streets for directions to the appropriate staging area for registration. Children ages 4-6 are invited to participate in the King/Queen contest and ride on the float. Contact Neil and Lisa Riley 608-485-2762 for more information.
The Village of Mount Hope welcomes any participation and help in the planning of this traditional event which has been interrupted due to COVID-19. As the sponsorship of the event moves to the Village, we continue to look at logistics of the event, including ideas or volunteers to help with the Parade.
Anyone in the community who would like to donate a pie to the 4-H may drop it off by 3:00pm at the Mount Hope Fire House on Friday, June 18.
For further information on the event please contact Village Clerk Bob Keeney at 608-988-6969.
