A Decorah woman was charged in connection with a two-vehicle accident in Winneshiek County. 23-year old Jadyn Renae Sommer was charged with Passing Contrary to Highway Sign or Marking. The accident happened on July 27th at 1:49pm. A 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan operated by 52-year old Leslie Ann Benson of Decorah was eastbound on Old Stage Road and was operating as a USPS Delivery Vehicle. Benson was turning left into a driveway and the hazard lights were flashing which overrode the turn signal when activated. Sommer was operating a 2017 Ford Escape and following. Sommer believed that the Benson vehicle would pull to the right side of the roadway to deliver the mail. Sommer attempted to pass the vehicle and the vehicles collided. The Sommer vehicle rolled and came to rest on the passenger side door. The road markings indicated a no passing zone. Neither driver was injured and refused service by WinMed Ambulance. Damage totaled 10-thousand dollars
