Delaware County Accidents

Delaware County Authorities released information on a number of accidents. An two-vehicle accident occurred on June 3rd at 4:27pm. 52-year old Chad Allen DeGroot was operating a 2019 Ram 1500 on 191st Street. 29-year old Justin Nicholas Nolz of Manchester was operating a 2001 Ram 3500 and was turning right and was hit from behind by the DeGroot vehicle. Authorities report that DeGroot had multiple medical conditions, including a traumatic brain injury, that affects his ability to operate a motor vehicle safely. Nolz and DeGroot complained of possible injuries. Damage totaled 12-thousand dollars. DeGroot was charged with failure to maintain control.

Authorities report an accident that occurred on June 4th at 11:42am. 32-year old Angela Katherine White of Earlville was operating a 2011 Buick Enclave eastbound on Highway 20. 58-year old Alan Joseph Hoeger of Delhi was operating a 2014 Jeep Wrangler, westbound turning south onto 260th Avenue. Hoeger failed to notice the White vehicle and pulled into it’s path. The right front corner of the White vehicle struck the right rear corner of the Hoeger vehicle. No injuries reported. Damage totaled 85-hundred dollars. Hoeger was charged with failure to yield upon making a left hand turn.

Authorities report an accident that occurred on May 25th at 1:17am on 145th Avenue. 41-year old Spenser Lee Vandevoorde of Manchester was operating a 2014 Ford Taurus. The vehicle was traveling southbound on 145th Avenue, crossed the road and went into the east ditch and hit a field entrance. Vandevoorde reportedly fell asleep on his way home leading to the accident and then got a ride to his residence. Vandevoorde was not injured. Damage totaled five-thousand dollars.

A two-vehicle accident occurred on May 30th at 4pm on Pilot Road. 63-year old Daniel Gerard Meyer of Decatur, Iowa was operating a 1995 Ford Ranger. 63-year old Dean Mark Klosterman of Manchester was operating a 2021 Caterpillar Motorgrader. Klosterman was operating the County Road Maintainer and was leveling newly poured gravel. Kloseterman was backing the maintainer. Meyer was behind the Maintainer and attempted to back up and could not move in time due to the truck spinning on the loose, thick gravel. The Maintainer backed into the Meyer truck. Damage only totaled 15-hundred dollars and no injuries were reported.

A minor deer accident occurred on May 31st at 2am. 52-year old Clifford Sylvester Moore of North Easton, Massachusetts was eastbound on Highway 20 when his vehicle struck a deer. No injures reported. Damage totaled five-thousand dollars.
