Delware County Accidents

Delaware County Authorities released information on three separate accidents. June 13th at 1:14pm an accident occurred on 330th Avenue. 54-year old Thomas Alan Krapfl of Delhi was operating a 2001 Buick Lesabre and traveling northbound just north of 302nd Street. Krapfl traveled straight off the curve and entered into the ditch and struck several trees, including one head-on. Krapfl stated that he was delivering mail and next thing he recalled was going into the ditch. Krapfl stated that he observed a flat tire and did not know if the tire had blown out and caused the accident. Authorities determined that the rim on the flat tire was bent so there is a high probability that the tire was flattened by the accident. Krapfl transferred himself to Regional Medical Center for treatment of injuries. The accident remains under investigation.

A one-vehicle occurred on June 14th at 9:25am on 210th Avenue in Delaware County. Authorities report that 67-year old James Joseph Cleary of Delhi was operating a 2002 Chrysler Sebring, traveling southbound where he lost control and struck two mailboxes. Cleary regained control and drove to the address at 26166 208th Avenue, the Pizza Place, where he was discovered near his vehicle by workers. Cleary had a laceration on his head, not believed to be caused by the accident, but rather from falling on the ground as he exited his vehicle. Cleary was taken by EMS to Regional Medical Center for treatment. The accident remains under investigation.

A car-deer accident occurred on June 18th at 12:44am on Highway 20 West. 26-year old Bryan Peter Solomon of Cedar Falls was operating a 2015 Chevrolet Malibu and was westbound on Highway 20 near the 140th Avenue Overpass when his vehicle struck a deer in the roadway.
