On January 10, 2025 at 05:24 am, Sherrill Fire Department, Holy Cross Fire Department, Asbury Fire Department, Farley Fire Department and the Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office responded to 19998 Hochrein Rd for a structure fire. Homeowner, Lois Klein, awoke to the smell of smoke and found the house and a nearby machine shed on fire. She was able to exit the residence without injury. A dog did not make it out of the house. The home is a total loss and the machine shed sustained significant damage. The total loss is estimated at $550,000. At this time, it is unknown what caused the fire.
