Ed-Co is excited to announce that Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate has awarded the Edgewood-Colesburg Senior Government Class the Carrie Chapman Catt Award! This recognition is given to schools with a 90% or higher voter registration rate among eligible seniors. Kyler Cole and Kaitlyn Thien, who also represented our school at the state level in the Know Your Constitution program, received the award on behalf of the Ed-Co Senior Class. Their dedication to civic engagement exemplifies the importance of being informed and active citizens.
The Carrie Chapman Catt Award is part of a statewide initiative to encourage young voters to participate in the democratic process. In 2024, a record-breaking 44 high schools across Iowa earned this distinction, and we are proud that Ed-Co is among them! Representative Jason Gearhart, Clayton County Auditor Jennifer Garms, and Delaware County Auditor Karla Becker were present today. Thank you to our seniors and Mr. Lutgen for stepping up and making their voices heard. Your commitment to civic engagement helps strengthen our democracy!
