Fayette County Crash

On June 3, 2025, at approximately 1:12pm, the Fayette County Sheriff's Office received a report of a vehicle accident on W Avenue near 210th Street, approximately four miles west of Hawkeye. After further investigation, it was determined that Mary Martha Hegg, age 68 of Decorah, was driving southbound in a Red 2025 Cadillac XT5 Premium when she fell asleep at the wheel, entered the ditch, striking a sign, and then drove out of the ditch. The Cadillac received approximately $5000 in damages. The occupants reported no injuries. Mary received a citation for Failure to Maintain Control.
