Fayette County Judge To Be Removed

(Des Moines, IA) -- Fayette County Magistrate David J. Hanson will be removed from his position. The Iowa Supreme Court ordered the removal after ruling that Hanson was unsuited to be a judge. The disciplinary proceedings stemmed from Hanson's handling of a 2022 case involving an arrest warrant for a 17-year-old girl accused of sexually abusing a teenage boy. Hanson was also accused of using a racial slur during a separate 2023 case. Unless Hanson resigns sooner, his removal will be official in 10 days.
