Fayette County Releases

On 9-29-24, at approximately 11:25 AM, the Fayette County Sheriff's Office took a report of a 2-vehicle accident at the intersection of Cedar Rd. and Highway 56, Wadena IA.   After law enforcement arrived on scene, it was found that Rita Ann Dau 54 of Luana, was travelling east bound on Hwy 56 in her 2017 Mercedes -Benz G25 when a 2015 ford truck collided with her vehicle.  After an investigation, it was learned that Dennis Lee Marmann, 65 of Fayette was southbound on Cedar Rd. entering the intersection when he collided with Dau.  Damage to the 2015 Ford truck was estimated at $5,000, and damage to the 2017 Mercedes-Benz was estimated at $15,000.  This accident remains under investigation.  Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Iowa Department of Natural Resources and Wadena Fire Department.    (photo)




 

On September 28, 2024, at approximately 8:22 am, the Fayette County Sheriff's Office received a report of a vehicle in the ditch in the 11,000 block of Great River Road, approximately three miles north of Eldorado. After further investigation, a Deputy determined that a Black 2016 Chrysler 200 Limited was traveling east bound when it lost control and entered the north side ditch, striking multiple trees. The air bags deployed but no occupants were inside. The Chrysler is considered a total loss. The driver was later located and identified as Cameron Hermen, age 20 of Elgin. Hermen was cited for Failure to Maintain Control.

 

On September 27th, 2024, at approximately 5:43 a.m. Fayette County Deputies were called to the area of 230th Street and W Avenue regarding the report of a two-vehicle accident. Upon investigating, it was discovered that Tommie Hove, age 77 of Cresco was traveling southbound on W Avenue when he failed to stop and yield the right of way before entering the intersection with his 2021 Ram 3500. Upon entering the intersection Mr. Hove struck a 2018 GMC Acadia, which was being operated by Desirae Jordan age, 27 of West Union. Mr. Hove was transported with injuries to Sumner Hospital. Both vehicles involved sustained significant damage. Mr. Hove was cited for failure to stop at a stop sign and yield right of way. The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Gundersen Ambulance and Hawkeye Fire Department.   

 

On September 27, 2024, the Fayette County Sheriff's Office arrested Wyatt Jeffrey Anderson, age 28 of West Union, on a valid Fayette County warrant for Parole Violation. Anderson was transported to the Fayette County Jail where he is being held on a no bond hold and awaits an initial appearance from a Magistrate Judge. The Fayette County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Decorah Police Department.
