Fayette County Semi-Truck Accident

On October 30, 2025, at 10:52AM the Fayette County Sheriff's Office received a report of a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Hwy. 3 and T Ave.  Upon investigation, it was learned that a 2013 Freightliner Semi-Tractor Trailer driven by 24-year-old Thomas Edward Amundson of Elgin, pulled out onto Hwy. 3 from T Ave. and did not yield to a 2005 Chevy Silverado coming from the west, operated by 46-year-old Jeremiah Fink of Sumner.  The semi struck the side of the Chevy, causing it to roll over into the ditch.  Minor injuries were reported, and Fink's Chevy was considered a total loss.  The Freightliner sustained around $10,000 in damage.  Thomas Amundson was charged with Fail to Yield Upon Entering a Through Highway.  The Fayette County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Westgate Fire Department, Mercy One Ambulance, and the Iowa State Patrol.
