Fayette Investigations

On July 12th, at approximately 1:12 AM, after the previous pursuit, officers were conducting a investigation on the roadway. A vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed barely missed striking a Fayette County Deputy and a Fayette Police Officer. Another Fayette Police officer attempted to initiate the stop, when the vehicle increased speeds to over 100 MPH. Another pursuit was initiated and lead to a chase through West Union, Fayette, and rural Fayette County. The vehicle began performing dangerous evasive actions, and the pursuit was about to be disregarded when it lost control and entered a ditch at South Pine and Echo Valley Road in West Union.

Diontay Cobbs (26) of Manchester and Kayci Hahn (24) of West Union were taken into custody. Diontay Cobbs was charged with Felony Elluding, possession of a controlled substance, and Driving under suspension. It was also found that Diontay Cobbs had two (2) outstanding warrant out of Black Hawk County for Burglary 1st Degree, a B Felony. He was transported to the Fayette County Jail and later transported to Black Hawk County on his active warrants.

Kayci Hahn was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance. She was transported to the Fayette County Sheriffs Office to await her appearance with a magistrate.

The vehicle is considered a total loss and no injuries were reported during the incident. The Fayette Police Department was assisted by the Fayette County Sheriff's Office and West Union, Iowa Police Department.

















































On July 12th, at approximately 00:41 hours, the Fayette Police Department received a call of a robbery at The Pumper Gas Station. The report was a woman came in and took product off the shelves and would not stop for the clerk, got into their vehicle, and left. A description of the vehicle and person was obtained. Shortly after, the vehicle was located on Highway 150 pulled off on the side of the road. When the officer made contact and identified the same description of the woman in the robbery, the vehicle then fled the scene and a pursuit was initiated. The vehicle was pursued into West Union and then back to Fayette along Highway 150. The Vehicle was disabled by Stop-Sticks and the suspect was apprehended without incident.

Erica Slack (38) of Tripoli was charged with Theft, Eluding, and Interference with Official Acts. She was transported to the Fayette County Jail to await an appearance with a magistrate. A Fayette Police Vehicle sustained minor damage during the pursuit. The Fayette Police Department was assisted by the Fayette County Sheriff's Office and the West Union, Iowa Police Department. No injuries were sustained in the incident.
