Fire at Agri-Star Meat Packing Plant in Postville contained to boiler/mechanical room

INCIDENT TYPE: STRUCTURE FIRE 

On May 13, 2026 at approximately 2:17 a.m., the Allamakee County Sheriff’s 911 Dispatch  received a report of a fire at the Agri Star Meat Packing Plant located at 220 N West Street in Postville Iowa. 

The fire started in a boiler room/mechanical room located in the plant and was contained to  that area by fire crews. No injuries were reported.  

Assisting at the scene was the Postville Fire Department, Postville Ambulance Service, Decorah  Fire Department, Luana Fire Department, MFL Ambulance Service, Castalia Fire Department,  Clermont Fire Department, Clermont Ambulance Service, Postville Police Department,  Allamakee County Sheriff's Office, Allamakee County Emergency Management, Alliant Energy  and Black Hills Energy.
