Fire reported on BNSF Train and a DeSoto woman arrested on Meth Charges following a traffic stop

On Saturday, June 27, 2026, Sheriff Dale McCullick reports that the Crawford County Communications Center received multiple reports of a southbound BNSF train with smoke and flames coming from the rear locomotive.

Railroad personnel were able to safely stop the train at the intersection of County Road K and State Highway 35 in the Township of Prairie du Chien. The Rural Bridgeport & Prairie du Chien Fire Department responded to the scene. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, which is believed to have been caused by a mechanical malfunction.

As a result of the incident, portions of Limery Road and County Road K were closed for several hours while emergency crews worked at the scene.

The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Rural Bridgeport & Prairie du Chien Fire Department, Crawford County Highway Department, Prairie du Chien Police Department, and BNSF Railway personnel

Village of Lynxville – Methamphetamine Arrest Following Traffic Stop

On Friday, June 26, 2026, Sheriff Dale McCullick reports that the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit (Diego) conducted a traffic stop in the Village of Lynxville.

During the traffic stop, the driver, Savana Radke, 24, of De Soto, Wisconsin, was observed attempting to conceal items inside her vehicle, and she displayed indicators consistent with narcotics impairment.

K-9 Diego was deployed and alerted to the presence of one or more controlled substances within the vehicle. A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of methamphetamine, methamphetamine drug paraphernalia, and marijuana.

Radke was arrested and transported to the Crawford County Jail on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of THC, operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of a restricted controlled substance, obstructing an officer, and a violation of probation.
