First-Degree Murder Sentence

An East Dubuque man charged with first-degree murder in the shooting of death of a Monticello Fareway employee has been sentenced to life in prison with no parole. KCRG reports that Nathan Russell received the mandatory sentence for someone guilty of first-degree murder. The incident occurred on November 7th when Russell shot 48-year old Aaron McAtee who was shot outside the store and later died at a nearby hospital. Russell was found in Hopkinton a short time later when a Delaware County deputy shot him when he didn't comply with orders. Russell will also have to pay restitution to the victim's family.
