On August 27th, 2024, at approximately 10 p.m., an on-duty Garnavillo Police Officer was approached by a citizen who reported details of an assault which had allegedly occurred two days prior to the date of the report. An investigation was initiated, and it was determined that an assault had taken place. The investigation determined that the assault met the definition of a domestic abuse assault, and the primary aggressor was charged in accordance to Iowa law. An arrest warrant was filed by the Garnavillo Police Department for Robert Lee Parker, 53, of Garnavillo. Parker left the area during the investigation, and has an outstanding arrest warrant as of the date of this release for Domestic Abuse Assault with Injury, a Serious Misdemeanor. Anyone with information on his current whereabouts is encouraged to contact the police department.
On September 1st, 2024, at approximately 3:56 p.m., a Garnavillo Police Officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle due to a speed violation near the Garnavillo Mill on South Main. An investigation determined that the driver had an active arrest warrant out of Dubuque County for Failure to Appear. Sophia M. King, 21, of Moline, Illinois, was taken into custody by Garnavillo P.D. and was transported to the Clayton County Jail where she later posted bond for her arrest warrant and was released.
