Grace Eunice (Lueck) Putz, age 93, of Strawberry Point, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2025, surrounded by her loving family at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Grace was born on February 8, 1932, in rural Dyersville, Iowa, and spent her life rooted in the rhythms of rural life—raising her family and enjoying downtime with friends. She was a devoted wife to Fred Putz, her husband of 39 years, with whom she shared a love of dancing—especially to polka music—and the joys of farming side by side.

Grace had a lifelong passion for gardening, canning, and quilting. Her pantry was always full of preserved harvests, and her quilts warmed the beds of many. She also enjoyed making homemade pie crusts that graced every holiday table.

Grace was also a proud member of the Greeley women’s competitive rope-pulling team. Many weekends and summer holidays were spent with family and friends playing volleyball and softball, while winter brought evenings with friends gathered for card club.  Grace’s friendships were deep and lasting, built on shared hard work and heartfelt fun.

A devout woman, Grace was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic church.

Grace's legacy lives on in her children, grandchildren, and those fortunate enough to share at her table, or a Sunday pew beside her. She taught us the value of hard work, the beauty of simplicity, and the joy of living fully and faithfully.

She is survived by four of her children, Barb (Jack) Henderkott of Le Claire, Tom (Barb) Putz of North Liberty, Steve (Billie) Putz of Manchester, and Susie (Kurt) Stallman of Robins; one brother, Donnie (Verna Mae) Lueck of Dyersville; one sister, Ruth (Fred) Willenborg of Dyersville; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a wide circle of family and friends who will miss her deeply.

Grace was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Putz; two daughters, Mary Ann and Shirley; one son, Ron; three sisters, Delores (Julius) Recker, Marilyn (Paul) Schaul and Celestine (Ray) Langel; a granddaughter, Kayla Putz; and a grandson, Seth Seibert.
