Minor Two Vehicle Crash

On July 13, 2021 on Canal Street, near the intersection of Bowery Street in the Village of Bloomington Faith Webb, age 18 of Bloomington, was traveling North in her 2012 Honda CRV. While Webb was traveling north, Victoria Doll, age 17 of Bloomington, was in her 2001 Toyota Echo parked on the East side of the roadway. Doll failed to check her blind spot prior to attempting to pull into the lane of traffic crashing into Webb's Honda CRV. Both vehicles received minor damage and all parties were wearing safety belts and were not injured.


Skid Loader Struck in Work Zone

On Tuesday July 13, 2021 at approximately 3:34pm, the Grant County Sheriff's Office was notified of a two vehicle crash on STH 81 just west of Old Lancaster Road. Makayla M. Rooney (19) of Platteville was traveling west in her 2002 Ford Explorer when she crashed into a Cat 259D3 skid loader being operated by Tyree L. Schultz (42) of Montfort. Schultz was loading a dump truck with the skid loader when he was struck by Rooney. Rooney exited her vehicle and forgot to put it in park; her vehicle then coasted off of the roadway approximately 100 feet out into a hay field. The skid loader had minor damage however; the explorer received heavy front end damage. Rooney was cited for operating too fast for conditions in a work area. The Sheriff's Office was assisted by SOS Towing of Platteville.


Two Vehicle crash

On Wednesday 14,2021 at 1:39 pm the Grant County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to a report of a two vehicle crash on Hwy 18 near County Road P located in the Township of Patch Grove. Steven Anderson age 39 from Wauzeka was driving 2015 Freightliner Semi and trailer. Anderson was traveling west on Hwy 18 near County P, when a vehicle in front of him was stopped in the lane of traffic to make a left hand turn into a driveway. Chad Schissel age 32 of Platteville was driving a 2018 Gray Ford F-150 when he was following the semi driven by Anderson. Schissel failed to stop in time to avoid hitting the semi in the rear. Anderson's semi received minor damage and was driven from the scene. Schissel's truck had heavy front end damage was towed from the scene by B&M Auto of Bloomington. Everyone involved in the crash was wearing their seat belts and there were no injuries reported. Schissel was arrested and cited for Operating while Intoxicated and failure to maintain control.


Sleepy Driver Crashes into Embankment

On 6-14-21, at around 1:30 pm, Richard Miller, age 74 of Geneso Illinois was traveling west on Cty U, west of Beetown when he fell asleep and crashed into the embankment. He was transported to Grant Regional Health Center by Lancaster EMS for minor injuries. The vehicle was removed by Bennetts Towing.
