Grant County Authorities File Charges After One-Vehicle Accident

One vehicle OWI crash in Dickeyville 

On August 9th, 2026, the Grant County Sheriff's Office was notified of a one-vehicle crash on South Main Street near Sunset Lanes, in the Village of Dickeyville.  

It was discovered by Grant County Deputies that 62-year-old Michael McDermott, of Cuba City, was traveling southbound on South Main Street when he crossed the center line, entering into oncoming traffic before leaving the roadway to the left. McDermott then struck a power pole, snapping it in half, causing it to land on his truck. McDermott then returned to the roadway before coming to a stop. 

McDermott was not injured during the crash. McDermott was arrested for Operating While Under the Influence first offense, and cited for possessing open intoxicants in a motor vehicle.
