 Hit and Run Crash 

On October 29, 2025, at approximately 1:20 p.m., the Grant County Dispatch Center received a report of a semi vs. car crash on USH 151, near the northbound exit of County Highway D, in Platteville Township.  

No injuries were reported, and when the deputy arrived on scene, he learned Michael Ruehle, 50, of Dickeyville, was traveling northbound in his 2012 Dodge Avenger. Ruehle was traveling in the right lane when a semi hauling what was believed to be a load of gravel entered his lane of traffic, striking the front of Ruehle's vehicle. The semi did not stop and continued northbound toward Lafayette County.  

Ruehle was not injured in the crash, but his Dodge Avenger suffered disabling damage. The semi was not located, but this incident remains under investigation. The Grant County Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by Hinderman's Auto Repair out of Dickeyville.

OWI Driver Fled Traffic Stop 

On 10/31/25, at approximately 10:15 p.m., a Grant County Deputy conducted a traffic stop on a white Chevrolet Silverado, on Hwy 35/61, near Bunker Hill St., in the Village of Tennyson. The vehicle was observed crossing the center line and deviating within its lane.  

A male individual who was later identified as Benjamin Fowler, 46, of Lancaster, fled from the traffic stop on foot. Multiple deputies and a Platteville Officer assisted in attempting to locate Fowler, who was later found to be at Twisted Vines Pub and Eatery, in Potosi.  

Fowler showed signs of impairment, and was ultimately arrested for OWI 5th offense. Fowler was transported to the Grant County Jail, where he was booked in for OWI 5th, Bail Jumping, and Resisting or Obstructing an Officer.  

During the is incident, the Grant County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Platteville Police Department.
