Grant County Sheriff’s Office holds Awards Ceremony

On December 5, 2021, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office held an awards ceremony to distribute various awards. There were a total of 19 awards given out to Sheriff’s Office employees, citizens, and other law enforcement. The following is a list of the recipients and the award they received:

Life-Saving Awards

Jailer Cierra Clay, Jailer Kevin Jones, Jailer Jordan Scott, and Jail Corporal Dominic Pagliaro – in recognition of their quick actions on March 13, 2020, that saved the life of an inmate experiencing a medical issue.

Deputy Blake Bender – for his quick actions on July 3, 2020, at the Lock & Dam, where he physically pulled a boat to a safe location to keep the boat and occupants from being swept up in the water at the dam.

Dickeyville Police Chief Dave Reuter - for his quick actions on March 8, 2021, where he pulled a woman in crisis off of the side of the Iowa/Wisconsin bridge and saved her from jumping.

Deputy Matt Whipple, Trooper Casey Updike, Dispatcher Audrey Fotzler, and Dispatcher Tyler Kirschbaum – for their actions on December 6, 2020, regarding a drug overdose. Because of the work of all of these people, the person having the

overdose survived.

Jailer Ben Wohland - for his quick actions on June 22, 2021, that prevented further injury to his co-workers.

Meritorious Conduct Award

Stephanie and Derek Moore – for their quick actions on May 8, 2020, where they sprang into action at the scene of a crash on Hwy 151, helping stabilize the scene until First Responders could arrive.

Award of Merit

Dispatcher Andrea Reynolds – in recognition for her actions on May 29, 2021, where her calmness, instructions, and active listening played a vital role in a successful outcome for a newborn child.

Dispatcher Sheri Zart and Kendra Robbins – in recognition of their actions on January 23, 2021, where they helped coordinate a response to a house fire with kids still in the house. Their ability to remain calm, multi-task, and relay vital information was crucial during this incident.

2020 – Sgt. Todd Miller

The Sheriff’s Office could not hold the awards ceremony in 2020 due to COVID, and it had been canceled the year prior due to weather and was not rescheduled. This led to several awards not being presented until several years later.

We congratulate all of the recipients! We thank them for their dedication to the citizens of Grant County and their willingness to go above and beyond to serve others.
