High Speed Chase

On Sunday June 12, 2022 at 12:07am City of Prairie du Chien Police Officers were made aware of a vehicle pursuit that was initiated by a Crawford County Sheriff’s Department Deputy on Highway 27. The sheriff’s deputy terminated the pursuit because he lost sight of the suspect vehicle. A direction of travel and description of the suspect vehicle was provided to the City of Prairie du Chien Police Officers by the sheriff’s deputy.

A short time later Prairie du Chien Police Officers observed the suspect vehicle West bound on Limery Road being operated at a high rate of speed. The suspect vehicle turned South bound on Hwy 35 at Limery Road and proceeded to enter the City of Prairie du Chien. Prairie du Chien Police Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle and the suspect refused to stop for the squad cars lights and sirens.

The suspect vehicle increased its’ speed and passed slower moving traffic. The suspect vehicle continued South bound on Marquette Road and the driver eventually lost control of the vehicle at the Iowa Street round-a-bout causing a single vehicle crash.

The driver, James Alan Jones age 38 of Black River Falls, was arrested for Knowingly Fleeing and Officer and transported to the Crawford County Jail.
