Historical Records

E LKADER – Clayton County residents now have another way to view historical public records. Online access is now available for transfer books and Board of Supervisors’ minute books that are housed in the Clayton County Auditor’s Office.

Cott Systems scanned and indexed the records and hosts the records online at https://recordroom.cottsystems.com/ClaytonIA/guest/Search/OIB. A link is also available on the county website at www.claytoncountyia.gov or by scanning the QR code.

The date of the transfer books (lands and town lots) scanned are from original entry through June 30, 2021. The Board of Supervisors’ minute books are from the Board establishment (1861) through June 30, 2021. Minutes after that date are available on the county website.

Although records are still available for viewing in the Auditor’s Office, residents may find it more convenient to access the online records. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the Clayton County Auditor’s Office at (563) 245-1106.
