On 09/06/23 at approximately 1345 hours, Dubuque County Jail staff members were moving inmate Jarrel Johnson (32 yoa) was being moved within the jail when he became resistive. Staff were in the process of placing Johnson in a cell when he struck Deputy Ashlee Hoffmann multiple times with a closed fist to the face. Deputy Hoffmann was transported to Mercy ER to be treated for her injuries. Johnson was charged with Assault of persons in certain occupations with injury and held for court.
