Luana City Council Minutes of April 21, 2026

The Luana City Council held a special meeting Thursday, April 21, 2026, at 7:00 pm. with Council Members Lonnie Baade, Todd Olson, Craig Radloff and Jackie Radloff-Schneider present. Absent: Kevin Boddicker

Mayor Luke Steege called meeting to order at 7:00 pm.

The Mayor announced that this was the time and place for the public hearing and meeting on the matter of the 2027 Budget at 7 pm. The Mayor then asked the Administrator whether any written objections had been filed by any City resident or property owner to the proposal. The Administrator advised the Mayor and the Council that no written objections had been filed. The Mayor then called for oral objections to the proposal and none were made. Whereupon the Mayor declared the time for receiving oral and written objections to be closed. Baade motioned to adopt the 2027 Budget, Olson second, carried unanimously. Radloff-Schneider motioned to pass Res. 4.3-2026 FY2027 Budget, Radloff second, carried unanimously. Whereupon the Mayor declared the measure duly adopted.

City received 2 quotes for the Fire Dept. radio equipment insurance. Olson motioned to approve quote from EMC Insurance, Radloff second, carried unanimously.

Baade motioned to approve variance for 307 Main Street, Radloff second, carried unanimously.

Radloff-Schneider motioned to name “The North Iowa Times” as the City of Luana’s official newspaper, Olson second, carried unanimously. Res. 4.4-2026 adopted.

             Next regular council meeting will be held May 7, 2026, at 7:00 pm.

Mayor Steege adjourned the meeting at 7:15 pm.
