Luana City Council Minutes of July 2, 2026

The Luana City Council held their regular monthly meeting Tuesday, July 2, 2026, at 7:00 pm. with Council Members Lonnie Baade, Kevin Boddicker, and Jackie Radloff-Schneider present. Absent: Todd Olson and Craig Radloff.

Mayor Luke Steege called meeting to order at 7:00 pm.

Minutes of June meeting were reviewed and approved upon motion by Radloff-Schneider, second by Boddicker carried unanimously. 

Boddicker motioned to pay all monthly claims totaling $17,578.72, Baade second, carried unanimously. Receipts for the month totaled $32,260.06. Baade motioned to pass Res. 7-2026 T.O.F, Radloff-Schneider second, carried unanimously. Council reviewed reconciled reports.

Humble informed council that the city was awarded a $500,000.00 grant from CDBG for lagoon project. City will continue to work with UERPC to complete CDBG Release of Funds. After funds are released the city may proceed with receiving bids. Baade motioned to enter contract with Iowa Economic Development CDBG for grant funding, Boddicker second carried unanimously.

Public Works, Henkes, obtained 3 bids for new plow truck for the city. Boddicker motioned to purchase new plow truck from Kayser Ford Lincoln in the bidded amount of $95,969.00, Radloff-Schneider second, carried unanimously.

Council discussed invoice from MB Construction for caused damage to storm sewer. Consensus of council to have property owner pay invoice.

Council discussed tree needing to be removed from boulevard located at 307 Main Street due to roots breaking up sidewalk. Consensus of council to table until next regular scheduled meeting.

Council discussed the following city codes, to which the council stated there are several violations within the city. 4.21.2 There shall be no parking of any vehicles on any residential City street, or alleys, at any time

Article 3.13. A vehicle or piece of machinery that has been placed, parked, or left unattended, on public property (streets, sidewalks and public grounds) for more than 48 hours and lacks current registration plates, if applicable, or lacks any part or parts that render the vehicle or machinery inoperable, or any machinery that is not capable of moving under its own

power (powered by an engine or motor).

Next regular council meeting will be held August 6, 2026, at 7:00 pm.

Mayor Steege adjourned the meeting at 7:45 pm.
