The Marquette City Council continues to look to fill a council vacancy. No letter of intent was received by the City so they will post a notice of intent to fill the vacancy at the October 8th meeting. The vacancy was created when the Marquette City Council approved the appointment of Council Member Brittany Hemmer to the position of Mayor. Hemmer replaced Steve Weipert as Mayor.
The Marquette City Council set October 8th as the date for a public hearing on a proposed agreement with the Soo Line Franchise Underground Electric Transmission line.
The Council tabled a decision on the Water Reservoir Project and the Housing Infrastructure Project and set September 24th for a special meeting to discuss both issues.
The Council set October 19th as the Fall Clean Up date. This is the final Fall Cleanup as Marquette will be moving to hold Clean Up once a year, in the spring.
The Council set September 22nd as Pinky the Elephant Day in Marquette, which is National Elephant Appreciation Day.
