The Marquette City Council approved a five-year Solid Waste contract with Waste Management. The agreements calls for a 26-percent rate increase in garbage fees. Residential and Business garbage fees will increase $4 a month, effective May 1st. It is the first increase since 2008.
The Council set April 11th as the public hearing date for the city budget. The proposed tax rate is $7.00-per thousand.
