Maynard man arrested on Sexual Abuse Charges and other releases from Fayette County

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office conducted an investigation into a sex assault allegation. On July 10, 2026, Deputies arrested Preston Lee Shannon, age 26 of Maynard, for Sexual Abuse 3rd Degree (D Felony). Shannon was transported to the Fayette County Jail where he received an initial appearance from a Magistrate Judge and was issued a $10,000 cash or surety bond. Shannon later posted bond and was released on a Promise to Appear.
On July 10th, 2026, at approximately 12:30 AM, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a vehicle in the ditch in the 3,000 block of D Ave in Fayette County. When deputies arrived an investigation was conducted. Upon completion of the investigation, the driver, 23 year-old Jacob Heroux of Warren, Rhode Island was arrested and charged with Operating While Intoxicated 1st Offense and Failure to Maintain Control of a Vehicle. He was transported to the Fayette County jail until his initial appearance.
On July 11th, 2026, at approximately 6:30 pm a Fayette County deputy arrested Alicia Kay Buck, 42 of Norway IA. Buck came to the Fayette County Sheriff's Office to visit an inmate. Buck had an active arrest warrant for Burglary 3rd Degree out of Polk County. Buck was arrested and held in the Fayette County Jail where she later was released after posting $5000.00 cash/surety bond.
On 7/11/2026 at approximately 7:49 AM the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a car/deer accident at R Ave, near 170th St. The driver, Charles Shaffer (38 y/o from Blackshear, GA) was driving southbound on R Ave when a deer entered the roadway and was struck. The truck received minimum front-end damage and was able to drive away. No injuries were reported.
