On Saturday, February 25th, 2023, at approximately 12:40 a.m., a deputy with the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for an equipment violation and speeding on STH 35 near E. Frederick Street in the Township of Prairie du Chien.
The operator of the vehicle was identified as Sam Lestina, 47, of La Crosse, Wisconsin. A search of Lestina’s vehicle was conducted and the following was located within, methamphetamine, methamphetamine paraphernalia, marijuana, and marijuana paraphernalia.
Lestina was arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanor bail jumping, and felony bail jumping. Also, Lestina was cited for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of a restricted controlled substance, possession of THC, possession of drug paraphernalia, and no automobile insurance.
The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Prairie du Chien Police Department, Crossing Rivers Health, and Milo’s Towing Service.
