Monfort man suffers life-threatening injuries in motorcycle accident in Grant County

On June 13, 2026, at 11:25 A.M., the Grant County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call from a resident in the Village of Montfort. The caller informed dispatch that a person was yelling for help in a pasture along Route 66 in Wingville Township. The resident responded to render aid and discovered the individual had been involved in a motorcycle crash. Along with deputies from the Grant County Sheriff's Office and a trooper from the Wisconsin State Patrol, first responders from Montfort Fire and Montfort EMS were dispatched to the scene.  

When law enforcement arrived on scene, they learned the motorcycle rider, Travis Mulrooney, 42, of Montfort, was riding a 1985 Harley Davidson eastbound on Route 66, when he failed to negotiate a curve. Mulrooney's motorcycle left the roadway and traveled into the south ditch, striking a tree. Mulrooney and the motorcycle continued to travel through a barbed wire fence, before coming to rest in a pasture.  

Mulrooney was transported by Montfort EMS to a landing zone in Montfort, where he was transferred to a medical helicopter and transported to UW Hospital in Madison, with life-threatening injures. Mulrooney was not wearing a helmet, and speed is believed to be a factor in this crash.  

Assiting law enforcement at the scene were members of the Montfort Fire Department, Montort EMS, and Haase's Towing Service. The Wisconsin State Patrol is Handling the investigation.
