Release: Continued Investigation Leads to Additional Charges
At approximately 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12th, 2025, the Oelwein Police Department conducted a search warrant in the 700 block of 2nd st NW in Oelwein. During the course of the search, illegal controlled substances were located and seized. The following charges have been filed:
1)John Stephen Clark, 56 of Oelwein:
Possession of Controlled Substance 3rd or subsequent- Methamphetamine- Class D Felony
Possession of Controlled Substance 3rd or subsequent- Marijuana- Class D Felony
Unlawful Possession of Prescription Medications- Serious Misdemeanor
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia - Simple Misdemeanor
Mr. Clark was already in custody from an investigation earlier on the same date. These additional charges have been filed with the court.

Release: Investigation Leads to Drug Arrests At approximately 9:50 a.m. on Wednesday, March 12th, 2025, the Oelwein Police Department conducted an investigation in the 100 block of 8th Ave NW in Oelwein. During the course of the investigation illegal controlled substances were located and seized. The following subjects have been arrested and charged: 1) David Lee Roy Smith, 63 of Oelwein Possession with Intent to Deliver- Methamphetamine- Class C Felony Possession with Intent to Deliver- Marijuana- Class D Felony Possession of Controlled Substance 3rd or subsequent- Buprenorphine - Class D Felony Gatherings Where Controlled Substances Are Used- Class D Felony Dominion/Control of Firearm Ammunition by Felon- Class D Felony Distribution of Prescription Medication 1st- Serious Misdemeanor Unlawful Possession of Prescription Medications- Serious Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia - Simple Misdemeanor 2) John Stephen Clark, 56 of Oelwein: Possession with Intent to Deliver- Methamphetamine- Class C Felony Possession with Intent to Deliver- Marijuana- Class D Felony Gatherings Where Controlled Substances Are Used- Class D Felony Unlawful Possession of Prescription Medications- Serious Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia - Simple Misdemeanor The subjects were taken into custody and transported to the Fayette County Jail pending an initial appearance. Additional charges are pending, and these cases are still under investigation.
