Oelwein Police Release Information on Theft and Warrant Arrests

At 2:53pm on August 12, 2026, Oelwein Police arrested Kody Allen Letts, 35, of Winthrop, following an investigation into gas theft that occurred in the 100 block of N Frederick Ave on August 10, 2026. Letts was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (3rd or Subsequent Offense) - Class D Felony, 3rd Degree Criminal Mischief - Aggravated Misdemeanor, 5th Degree Theft Against an Older Individual - Serious Misdemeanor, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia - Simple Misdemeanor.
On August 10, 2026, at 5:47pm, Oelwein Officers conducted a traffic stop in the 200 block of 1st Ave NE. As a result of this traffic stop, Reid Michael Kimball, 54, of Oelwein, was arrested on a Fayette County Warrant for original charge of Larceny from Building. Additionally, Kimball received Citations for No Valid Drivers License, Failure to Provide Proof of Financial Liability, and Fraudulent Use of Registration.
