One vehicle accident in Grant County leads to OWI arrest

LLE, WI 53818 One vehicle crash, driver arrested for OWI 1st 

On November 19, 2025, at approximately 4:55pm, Katie Weigel, 47, of rural Platteville, called the Grant County Sheriff's Office to report she was involved in a crash on College Farm Rd, in Platteville Township.  

Weigel reported she was driving her 2022 Ford Bronco Sport on College Farm Rd., when a vehicle ran her off of the road. Weigel's vehicle rolled onto its driver side. Weigel was uninjured, but trapped inside the vehicle. Platteville Fire and Southwest Health EMS were paged to the scene. Weigel was able to get out of the vehicle with the assistance of Platteville Fire.  

Grant County Deputies conducted the crash scene investigation and determined that Weigel was under the influence of alcohol. Weigel was arrested for OWI 1st Offense, and was transported to Southwest Health Center for a chemical test, and was later released to a responsible party.  

The Grant County Sheriff's office was assisted on scene by Platteville Fire, Southwest Health EMS and Ripp's Towing of Platteville,. This incident is still under investigation.
