The Postville School Board approved Volunteer Coaches. Todd Neal and Mac Hughes for Girls and Boys Assistant Coaches.

The Board approved the High School Choir overnight trip to Wartburg and the Senior overnight Music Trip to Saint Louis.

January 9, 2023

Travis Koenig called the regular meeting of the Postville Board of Education to order at 5:31 PM, on Monday, January 9, 2023, with the following members present: Amy Loera, Greg Lage, Eric Meyer, Larry Schultz. Members absent: N/A.

President Koenig welcomed all visitors.

Motion by Meyer, second by Schultz, to approve the agenda. Carried unanimously.

Motion by Lage, second by Loera, to approve the consent agenda with three additions. Carried unanimously. a. Approve December 12, 2022, regular and special meeting minutes.

b. Invoices and financial reports (reviewed by Greg Lage).

c. Approve the transfer of Heather Staley to the Elementary Positive Behavior Support Teacher for FY24. d. Approve the acceptance of donations/gifts to the district. American Online Giving Foundation/$194.20; Goodfellas Riding Club/Nurse Fund/$500; Goodfellas Riding Club/Tutoring Program/$500; west Post Project Club/Nurse Fund/$48.50; Women of the ELCA/$200.

e. Approve the HS Choir overnight trip to Wartburg College for the Meistersinger Honor Choir and the Senior overnight music trip to St. Louis.

f. Approve volunteer coaches of Todd Neal/Girls’ and Boys’ Assistant Coach; Mac Hughes/ Girls’ and Boys’ Assistant Coach.

g. Approve one early graduation request.

h. Approve a special education contract with NFV.

i. Approve an open enrollment out request from Allamakee CSD.

Mr. Dugger shared that the FAC lobby received a flooring upgrade. The vote for the updated football brackets was approved by the association. It still requires the Department of Education approval, which will be addressed later this month.

Mr. Knudtson provided information on the start of the second semester. Six new students have arrived since the holiday break, of which fiver are considered newcomers. Mt. Vernon CSD is bringing a group of students to Postville on January 10th to meet with Postville students to discuss diversity.

Mrs. Schutte indicated that the second semester is off to a great start. Information on recent professional development was provided.

Motion by Loera, second by Schultz, to approve a request to the School Budget Review Committee for a Modified Supplemental Amount in the amount of $256,898 for the 2023-2024 At-Risk/Dropout Prevention Program. Carried unanimously.

The next regular board meeting will be held on February 13, 2023, at 5:30 P.M. at the Postville Fine Arts Center Lobby. Motion by Lage, second by Loera, to adjourn the meeting at ?5:40 P.M. Carried unanimously.
