A local methamphetamine dealer, Timothy R. Kirschbaum, age 49, of Prairie du Chien, has been sentenced to three years in state prison followed by four years of extended supervision for his role in distributing methamphetamine in the Prairie du Chien area.
According to court records, the defendant was convicted of delivery of methamphetamine, stemming from an investigation by the Prairie du Chien Police Department. Investigators learned that the defendant was involved in obtaining methamphetamine and redistributing it within the community over an extended period.
At sentencing, the court cited the seriousness of methamphetamine trafficking and its impact on public safety in rural communities, noting that a term of imprisonment was necessary to deter similar conduct and protect the public. Kirschbaum will be subject to four years of extended supervision after release, during which compliance with drug treatment, employment, and other conditions will be monitored by the Wisconsin Department of Corrections.
Law enforcement officials emphasize that methamphetamine distribution remains a priority for local and state agencies and encourage community members to report suspected drug activity to the Prairie du Chien Police Department or Crawford County Crime Stoppers.
