Rural Cassville man fatally injured in one-vehicle accident in Grant County.

One-Vehicle Fatal Crash 

On February 20, 2026, at 12:15 A.M., the Grant County Sheriff's Office Communications Center received an automated crash alert on Settlement Road near Settlement Lane, in Cassville Township. Deputies and emergency responders from the Cassville Fire Department and Cassville EMS were dispatched to the scene. 

Deputies arrived on the scene and discovered that Nicholas Busch, 31, of rural Cassville, had been traveling westbound on Settlement Road, when his 2006 Pontiac Montana crossed the centerline, left the roadway, and struck a tree. Busch, the only occupant of the vehicle, was not wearing his seatbelt, and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The road conditions were slippery at that time, due to the adverse weather conditions.  

The Grant County Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by the Cassville Fire Department, Cassville EMS, Grant County Coroner's Office, and B&M Towing out of Bloomington.  

This was Grant County's second traffic fatality of 2026.
