Tornadoes touch down in Northeast Iowa late yesterday afternoon and last night. The Oelwein School District reports that a tornado hit just north of the football stadium, damaging the stadium and downing power lines. Damage has been reported in Bremer County, in the Shell Rock and Waverly area. In Waverly, a tornado caused significant damage, including knocking down trees and destroying a machine shop on the Jim Oberle property. Power lines were knocked down, blocking access to the property. The National Weather Service reports that tornadoes touchdown in the Manchester area. One of those hit at 7:50pm, south of Highway 20, southwest of Manchester. Two tornadoes then hit ten minutes later, including one that crossed Highway 13, just north of Highway 20, three miles west of Manchester. Emergency officials report that two windows and a number of vehicles were damaged at the Casey’s Truck Stop. Several other buildings on the southwest edge of Manchester reported damage. No injuries have been reported.
