On Saturday, October 15th, 2022, a member of the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop on a stolen 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup truck on Rush Creek Road in the Township of Freeman. The truck was initially stolen from a location in Sparta, Wisconsin.
The driver of stolen truck was identified as Stanley Colsch, age 41, of Garnavillo, Iowa, and his passenger was identified as Tod Weston, age 58, of Lansing, Iowa. The driver Stanley Colsch displayed indicators of drug impairment and failed standardized field sobriety testing. As the stop progressed, a search of the truck was conducted and a plastic baggie containing several grams of methamphetamine was discovered.
Stanley Colsch was placed under arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent, receiving stolen property, possession of methamphetamine, and operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of a restricted controlled substance.
Throughout the course of this investigation, the sheriff’s office was assisted by several other law enforcement agencies.
