Regular Meeting February 7, 2024


The Strawberry Point City Council met for a regular meeting on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. at the Council Chambers within Strawberry Point City Hall. Mayor Evans presided. Council members answering roll call were Yokiel, Gilson, Rodas, Hansel, Gearhart.

Rodas moved to approve the agenda as presented. Hansel seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken. Ayes: Yokiel, Gilson, Rodas, Hansel, Gearhart. Nays: None. Motion passes

Claims

             Hansel moved to approve the Consent Agenda. Gearhart seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken. Ayes: Gilson, Rodas, Hansel, Gearhart, Yokiel. Nays: None. Motion passes.


UNFINISHED BUSINESS

INFORMATION

The Strawberry Point Library Board Minutes from December 18, 2023, January 18, 2024 and the Strawberry Point Fireman’s Association minutes from December 13,2023, December27,2023 were received and filed.


NEW BUSINESS

Gearhart moved to approve the proposal from ECCO Midwest for $4,557.00 to remove the asbestos in two rooms at the Civic Center. Yokiel seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken Ayes: Rodas, Hansel, Gearhart, Yokiel, Gilson. Nays: None. Motion passes

Hansel made the motion for the city to pay to move a couple of outlets in the kitchen area of the daycare to counter height. Gearhart seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken Ayes: Hansel, Gearhart, Yokiel, Gilson, Rodas. Nays: None. Motion passes

Gearhart made the motion to enter into closed session. Rodas seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken. Ayes: Gearhart, Yokiel, Gilson, Rodas, Hansel. Nays: None. Motion passes. Council entered closed session at 6:08 PM. Gearhart moved to exit closed session. Yokiel seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken. Ayes: Yokiel, Gilson, Rodas, Hansel, Gearhart Nays: None. Motion passes. Council ended closed session at 6:28 PM

Yokiel made the motion to move forward with options A and B that were discussed in the closed session. Gilson seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken Ayes: Gilson, Rodas, Gearhart, Yokiel. Nays: None. Abstain: Hansel. Motion passes


 OTHER BUSINESS

Yokiel wanted to commend Jared on taking online courses right now to continue her training for certified municipal clerk.

Rodas inquired if we have received any applications for the city administrator position, the mayor stated that she has received two so far.

With there being no other business, Yokiel moved to adjourn at 6:31 p.m. Gearhart seconded the motion. All ayes.
