Waucoma woman arrested after attempting to flee on foot and an Alaska woman faces charges after traffic stop

On February 25th, 2026, at approximately 9:09 PM, a Fayette County Deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the 311-Block of Highway 150, West Union, IA. While attempting to stop the vehicle, the vehicle fled into a local business where the driver attempted to flee on foot. After further investigation, the driver, Flora Mae Epley (age 45) of Waucoma, IA was placed under arrest for Driving while License Denied, Suspended, Canceled, or Revoked & Interference with Official Acts, both simple misdemeanors. Flora was transported to the Fayette County Jail where she was held for her initial appearance. The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the West Union Police Department, Monona Police Department, and Torkelson Auto.
On 2-25-26, at approximately 8:00PM, the Fayette County Sheriff's Office received information of a driving complaint heading north on T Avenue from Hwy 3. Suspect vehicle was located just outside of Westgate IA, and a traffic stop was initiated near 100th St. and S Avenue. After an investigation, Lisa Marie Hillmer, 53 of Anchorage Alaska, was arrested an charged with Operating While Intoxicated and Possession of Marijuana 1st Offense, both serious misdemeanors. Hillmer was also charged with use of electronic device while driving, a simple misdemeanor. Hillmer was taken into custody and transported to Fayette County Jail, where she awaited initial appearance.
