Winneshiek County Authorities release information on two separate accidents

A Decorah man was charged in connection with a one-vehicle accident in Winneshiek County. 54-year old Kelly Richard Ludeking of Decorah was charged in connection with an accident that was reported on May 17th at 9:04am on 200th Street. Ludeking was operating a 2010 Toyota Yaris. His vehicle was found in a ditch and no one around and authorities believe the accident happened sometime during the overnight hours. Ludeking was eastbound when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a support piece of a bridge along with two signs and the guardrail. It went airborne and continued to hit parts of the bridge before coming to rest on the other side of the creek. No injuries reported. Damage totaled six-thousand dollars and Ludeking was charged with Failure to Maintain Control and Striking Fixtures Upon a Highway.
A Fort Atkinson teen was charged in connection with a two-vehicle accident in Winneshiek County. 15-year old Kort Mark Steffens was charged with Following Too Close. The accident occurred on May 16th at 11:30am on Highway 52 just outside of Castalia. Steffens was operating a 2005 GMC Sierra and was approaching a line of vehicles traveling behind a slower moving pickup, hauling farm equipment. Steffens was adjusting his radio and did not see the slower moving vehicles and attempted to brake. The Steffens vehicle struck a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze operated by 49-year old Todd Andrew Conway of Ossian. No injuries reported and damage totaled four-thousand dollars.
